Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows – 3.5 stars

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is better than the first movie.  Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law have given their easy banter a deeper root which makes their scenes play all the more enjoyable.  The villain Moriarity is seductive and superior and often, you feel Holmes is overmatched (you may have seen the actor playing Moriarty – he is the one who plays Lane in Mad Men).  Best, Stephen Fry has been enlisted as Holmes’ older brother.  His scenes are hilarious.  Finally, the plot is interesting, it develops with appropriate twists and turns, and the special effects (you can’t go wrong with an armaments factory), are dizzying.
